Our speaker on February 13 was author Dennis Belcher, who spoke on the "The Cavalry of the Army of the Cumberland."   Dennis analyzed the successes and failures of this unit and reviewed the careers of some of the cavalry commanders who are not as well known to Round Table as some other Federal and Confederate leaders.

The award is presented annually to the author of the best book on a Civil War subject published in the preceding year.

Dr. Hess spoke on the subject of this excellent book at the well-attended monthly meeting.  Was Bragg deserving of his poor reputation?  Or was history unfair to this Confederate general?  Buy the book and learn the whole story from this outstanding scholar.
